EVANSTON, Ill. - Former NCAA All-America Tim Glass has been named an assistant coach for Northwestern's women's fencing team, head coach Laurie Schiller announced.
"Tim has excellent credentials," said Schiller, noting that Glass was also a two-time U.S. National Champion, a silver medallist at the 1983 Pan American Games and a bronze medallist at the 1975 Junior World Championships. "We're very lucky to have him at such a late time."
Glass is a former volunteer coach in 2000-01 for the Wildcats and is replacing Ed Kaihatsu, who took a leave of absence for family reasons.
In addition to his duties at Northwestern, Glass is the owner and head coach of the Northshore Fencing Academy. He currently resides in Deerfield, Ill., with his wife and four children.
