PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. -- At the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships, Northwestern's Cristelle Grier (Surrey, England/Putney) fell in the second round, but advanced to the semifinal round in the doubles competition with partner Jessica Rush (Dallas, Texas/Hockaday School).
Grier, the tourney's No. 3 seed, fell to UCLA's Jackie Carleton 6-3, 6-2 in the round of 16. Grier, however, will get a chance to avenge her loss to Carleton in doubles play when she and Rush take on Carleton and Lauren Fisher of UCLA in Saturday's semifinal doubles action.
NU's doubles team defeated Duke's Amanda Johnson and Tory Zawacki 9-8 (4) on Friday.
