Men's Golf Holds Five-Stroke Lead After First Two Rounds of Windon Memorial Classic

GOLF, Ill. -- Northwestern's men's golf team leads the Windon Memorial Classic by five strokes after the first two rounds of play. Four Wildcats finished in the top 20, as junior Tom Johnson (Weaverville, Calif./Del Campo) is atop the leaderboard after firing a second-round 69. His two-round total of 140 is just one stroke ahead of Stanford's Jim Seki (70-71=141).
Wildcat senior Scott Harrington (Portland, Ore./Jesuit) trails Johnson by two strokes after firing a pair of 71's, totaling 142. Not to be outdone, senior Bjorn Widerstedt (Vasteras, Sweden/Flagler College) shot rounds of 71-71=144, while junior T.C. Ford (Covington, La./Covington) fired rounds of 71-76=147.
As a team, Northwestern shot a two-round total of 573, five strokes better than second-place Duke (578). Stanford is in third, shooting a two-round total of 582.
The best individual round of the day was a 4-under 68, shot by Chris Carnahan of Oregon. Carnahan is tied for third with a 2-under 142.
Northwestern shoots for its first Windon Memorial title tomorrow, as the field will play a final 18 holes. Tee times begin at 8 p.m. off the 10th tee and 8:15 off the first tee.
