Big Ten Announces Officers For 2002-03 Academic Year

PARK RIDGE, Ill. - The Big Ten Conference announced today the new officers of the Council of Presidents / Chancellors (COP/C) for the 2002-03 academic year.

Henry Bienen, President of Northwestern University, will chair the COP/C. Penn State University President Graham Spanier will serve as Vice Chair and incoming University of Michigan President Mary Sue Coleman has been named Second Vice Chair. These three presidents also serve as the Executive/Compensation Committee for the Big Ten Conference.

Along with the three university representatives, Big Ten Commissioner of Athletics James E. Delany is an officer of the COP/C, along with Associate Commissioner Carol A. Iwaoka, who serves as the Council's Secretary, and Associate Commissioner Brad Traviolia, who is the Council's Treasurer.
