Women's Golf Team Sits Fifth at Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout

BOERNE, Texas -- Led by the Kim sisters, Northwestern's women's golf team is positioned fifth after one round of the Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout. The second annual collegiate women's golf tournament is being held at the Tapatio Springs Golf Resort.
The Wildcats carded a first-round score of 315 (27-over-par) and are 11 strokes behind Tulane. Northwestern, however, is just six strokes back of second-place Texas Tech.
Freshman Ina Kim (Encino, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) fired a 5-over-par 77 to sit in a four-way tie for 13th place. Her older sister, Hana Kim (Encino, Calif./Brentwood), shot a 78 and is tied for 17th place.
Senior Emily Gilley (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) and junior Elizabeth Burden (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest) shot 8-over-par 80s in the first round.
Eleven of the 20 participating teams are currently ranked among the nation's top 70 teams according to the latest Golfweek/Sagarin poll (No. 31 Northwestern, No. 32 Kent State, No. 33 Tulane, No. 34 Baylor, No. 51 Texas Tech, No. 52 Wisconsin, No. 55 Missouri, No. 58 Kansas State, No. 62 Iowa State, No. 66 Illinois and No. 67 Nebraska).
The Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout concludes with a final round Friday of 18 holes beginning at 7:30 a.m. CST at the 6,007-yard, par 72 course.
