EVANSTON, Ill. - Last year, the Northwestern women's tennis team fell out of the NCAA Championships after losing to Florida in the Round of 16.

On Friday, a pair of Gator women continued to hold court over their Wildcat counterparts.

Both Marine Piriou and Christelle Grier fell to Florida women in the second round of the Omni Hotels National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships. The event is being hosted by Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

Piriou gained the early advantage over Florida's Lindsay Dawaf, the seventh seed. However, Dawaf came back strong and ended up taking a three-set decision (1-6, 6-4, 6-2).

Grier, meanwhile, battled the Gators' Alexis Gordon to a tiebreaker in the first set but lost. After coming back to win the second set, Grier ran out of gas and ultimately dropped a three-set decision (7-6 [5], 3-6, 6-1). On Thursday, Grier had knocked off the tournament's second seed, Vilmarie Castellvi of Tennessee, in straight sets.
