Delguyd, Kimberlin Place Third at MSU Open

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Matt Delguyd (Mayfield, Ohio/Mayfield) and Mike Kimberlin (Bradley, Ill./Bishop McNamara) went undefeated in day two of the Michigan State Open, leading Northwestern with their third-place finishes.
Delguyd, a freshman at 197 lbs., reached the quarterfinals of the championship bracket Saturday before being knocked off, but responded with a 4-0 mark Sunday. Kimberlin, who wrestles at 157 lbs., dropped his first-round match Saturday but ran the table Sunday with seven straight wins.
John Giacche (Flemington, N.J./Blair Academy) and Jason Erwinski (Tinley Park, Ill./Mt. Carmel) each advanced to the semifinals but could go no further. Giacche, the defending champion at 141 lbs., finished fifth, and Erwinski finished sixth at 174 lbs.
John Velez (Kings Mills, Ohio/Kings) placed sixth at 125 lbs.
Northwestern returns to action Nov. 24 at the Missouri Open.
