EVANSTON, Ill. -
Northwestern's Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week were named for their athletic competition from the week of Oct. 7. Jason Wright (Diamond Bar, Calif./Diamond Bar) of the football team was the male recipient and Aileen Guiney (Naperville, Ill./North) of the women's soccer team was the female recipient.
For the fourth time in the last five games, Wright surpassed the 100-yard rushing mark and finished with 148 yards against Minnesota. He averaged 7.0 yards per carry and scored two touchdowns. He also added 31 receiving yards and 63 kickoff return yards for a career-best 242 all-purpose yards. He ranks first nationally in kickoff return yardage, second nationally in all-purpose yardage and 26th nationally in rushing yardage.
Guiney scored in both matches this weekend for the Wildcat women's soccer team, giving her three goals in the last three matches. She had NU's only tally in a 2-1 loss to Wisconsin on Friday. She followed that up with what proved to be the game-winner in Sunday's 2-1 Big Ten win against Minnesota at Lakeside Field. Guiney is currently second on the team with 12 points (three goals and six assists).
