Women's Tennis Falls to William and Mary, 6-1

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The women's tennis team, ranked ninth nationally, fell to the College of William and Mary, 6-1, Saturday afternoon at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. The 'Cats are now 1-1 on the season.
In doubles, Candice Fuchs and Jessyca Arthur defeated Lia Jackson and Marine Piriou, 8-5, at No. 1. The remaining two matches were hotly contested and saw several lead changes before the point was decided. William and Mary's No. 2 tandem of Delphine Troch and Lena Sherbakov edged out Simona Petrutiu and Jessica Rush, 9-7. NU's Ruth Barnes and Stacy Kokx defeated Amy Wei and Kari Olsen, 9-8(3).
In singles, Northwestern's only point of the match came with Rush's 6-4,6-2 win at No. 3. The Wildcats fell in straight sets at Nos. 1,2,5 and 6. Freshman Andrea Yung lost to Troch in three, 7-6, 4-6, 6-4.
The Wildcats are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 2, as they host Brigham Young at 11 a.m. The match will be held at the Combe Tennis Center.
