EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern junior runner Rachel Evjen (Eau Claire, Wis./North) was named Big Ten Runner of the Week Tuesday by the conference office. It was the second time in three weeks Evjen has been honored by the conference.

Evjen outran a large field at the Illinois Invitational in Savoy, Ill., on Saturday to earn the individual title. Her time of 17:22 is the third-fastest mark in the Big Ten this year and a personal record. The win was Evjen's second in row and helped give Northwestern a third-place finish in the 15-team event.

Previously, Evjen earned the Big Ten honor for the week of Sept. 11 after winning the Bradley Open on Sept. 8.

The women's cross country team is back in action this weekend, competing in the Roy Griak Invitational. The race will take place in Minneapolis Saturday.
