Women's Golf Travels to Indiana for Annual Invitational

Evanston, Ill. - The 14th-ranked Northwestern women's golf squad is scheduled to tee off at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, in the 12th annual Indiana Invitational. The invitational is held at the University of Indiana's home course (par 72, 6,700 yards) in Bloomington. Golfers will play 36 holes on Saturday, starting in a shotgun formation. The tournament will conclude with a final round on Sunday. The field is stacked with some of the best competition from around the Big Ten and beyond, as eight teams set to participate hold top 50 rankings according to the latest Golfweek.com poll.
Indiana has taken the team title the past two seasons. Last year, NU placed fourth, 10 shots behind the Hoosiers. Michigan State's Theresa McDermott finished first among individuals in 2000 with a two round 9-over-par performance. Elizabeth Burden was the `Cats highest finisher with a 17-over-par. In 1999, Emily Gilley, then a freshman, placed fifth.
Participating schools: Illinois State, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kent State, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio University, Southern Illinois, Wisconsin.
