
Conrad Emmerich, Chala Holland Named NSCA All-Americans

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern University football player Conrad Emmerich and women's basketball player Chala Holland, were selected by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a 2001 All-Americans. They were nominated by NU strength and conditioning coach Larry Lilja for their dedication to strength training and conditioning.
Conrad Emmerich (Foley, Minn./Foley) was one of the Wildcat co-captains this year, leading the football team to a share of the Big Ten title and a spot in the 2000 Alamo Bowl. A converted middle linebacker, Emmerich played defensive end this past fall and garnered 50 tackles (34 solo). He also had three sacks, two pass breakups and a fumble recovery.
Chala Holland (Ardmore, Pa./Delaware County Christian) also recently completed her career at Northwestern. After sitting out her junior year with an injury, Holland played in 11 contests this season and scored nine points. She also snared 16 rebounds.
The 2001 All-American Strength and Conditioning Athletes are recognized for their athletic accomplishments, academic and personal achievements, community involvement and leadership qualities. This year's All-America team features 173 athletes representing 26 sports and 74 colleges and universities across the country.
