Northwestern Names Athletes of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern University has named its Athletes of the Week for April 23. The selections were made based on athletic competition from April 16-22.

MALE -- Steve Haake, Baseball
Junior Steve Haake (Belleville, Ill./Gibault) helped the NU baseball team to a 2-2 weekend at Michigan State, going 7-for-16 at the plate. Six of his seven hits went for extra bases, as he stroked four doubles and two home runs. Haake extended his hitting streak to eight games and had an on-base percentage of .550. He also had a slugging percentage of 1.063. Haake scored seven runs, drove in three more and stole a base against the Spartans.

FEMALE -- Hana Kim, Golf
Freshman Hana Kim (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood) fired a hole-in-one on the par-3, 146-yard 13th hole during first-round action at the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational in Columbus, Ohio. Kim's tee shot landed in the cup on the fly as she recorded just the second hole-in-one in Northwestern women's golf history. Kim continued her career weekend by shooting a collegiate-best, 1-under-par 71 in the third round and placing seventh out of 98 players in the tournament.
