EVANSTON, Ill. - WGN Radio and Northwestern University have agreed to an extension of their sports broadcast agreement for an additional three years. Wildcat fans will be able to hear Northwestern football and men's basketball action on Radio 720 through the 2003-04 season.
WGN Radio Sports Director Dave Eanet will continue as the Voice of the Wildcats in both sports. Eanet, a Northwestern alumnus, has handled play-by-play duties at Northwestern for 11 years, five of them with WGN.
"I am very pleased that Northwestern and WGN have agreed to extend a relationship that has been mutually beneficial to both entities," said NU athletic director Rick Taylor. "WGN provides Northwestern football and basketball with unparalleled local and national coverage, going into 38 states. We look forward to the future with WGN."
WGN Radio 720 is a 50,000-watt station that reflects what's happening in Chicagoland with an "electronic mirror" format that can be all news or all talk one moment and all business, all sports, or all weather the next. The voice of Chicago for more than 75 years, WGN Radio's Clear Channel Signal can be heard through most of the continental United States east of the Rocky mountains, as well as in certain Canadian provinces.
