Women's Tennis Falls to No. 11 Cal, 5-2

EVANSTON, Ill. - The 12th-ranked women's tennis team dropped its second straight match, 5-2 to No. 11 Cal, Saturday afternoon at the Hellman Tennis Courts. The Wildcats are now 13-4 on the season, while the Bears improved to 11-2.
Cal took the early lead, winning at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Lia Jackson and Marine Piriou were NU's only winners, defeating Nicole Havlicek and Jieun Jacobs at No. 2 (8-6).
In singles, Jackson and Simona Petrutiu were the Wildcats' only victors. Jackson came from behind to defeat Christina Fusano at No. 2 (3-6, 6-0, 6-3). Petrutiu downed Jieun Jacobs in straight sets at No. 4 (6-4, 7-5). At No. 3, Piriou saw undefeated record snapped at 14 with a 6-4, 7-5 loss to Raquel Kops-Jones.
The Wildcats will host Baylor on April 1 at 11 a.m. The match is scheduled for the Sheridan Tennis Courts, but will be played indoors at the Johnson Tennis Center in the case of inclement weather.
