Tashy Bohm set a new school record in the 200 backstroke in the preliminaries at the NCAA Championships

Senior Tashy Bohm swam to a ninth-place finish in the 200 backstroke (1:57.61) to put her in the evening finals and give Northwestern a chance to put more points on the board at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Long Island, N.Y. For the third time this season, Bohm has broken the school record in this event. She previously had set the new mark in the Big Ten Conference finals. Bohm will compete in her final collegiate race this evening as part of the consolation race. Susie Sample placed 22nd in the 200 back to finish her sophomore campaign.

Rachel Johnson finished 17th with a time of 2:00.88 in the 200 butterfly to earn an alternate spot in the evening finals.

NU's 800 freestyle relay team's 16th-place finish (7:27.76) gave the `Cats their first points of the Championships. The team, consisting of Vicky West, Johnson, Bohm and Sample, notched two points for the `Cats to place them 42nd.
