EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern women's tennis team defeated the Indiana Hoosiers, 7-0, Saturday afternoon at the Johnson Tennis Center. With the win, Northwestern improves to 13-2 overall and 5-0 in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers fall to 7-5 (1-1 Big Ten). Northwestern has now recorded eight sweeps this season.
Sophomore Marine Piriou kept her perfect dual match record intact, improving to 13-0 on the season with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Jessica Levin.
The 'Cats opened with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to take the early 1-0 lead. Colleen Cheng and Jessica Rush had their Big Ten win streak halted by IU's duo of Kelly Blanch and Linda Tran at No. 1. Cheng and Rush are now 4-1 in Big Ten play after the 8-6 loss.
NU rolled through the singles competition, winning each match in straight sets.
The Wildcats are back in action on March 21 when they travel to Fresno State. Match time is set for 1 p.m. CDT.
