Women's Tennis Sweeps Purdue, 7-0

EVANSTON, Ill. - The ninth-ranked Northwestern women's tennis team easily defeated the Purdue Boilermakers, 7-0, Friday night at the Johnson Tennis Center. The Wildcats won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. Northwestern improves to 12-2 overall and 4-0 in Big Ten action. The Boilermakers fall to 3-7 (0-2 Big Ten).
The Wildcats opened the match with a sweep of the doubles to take the 1-0 lead, and never let up, winning all six of the singles matches. Colleen Cheng, who is currently ranked No. 39 in the nation, defeated Erika Quebe at No. 1, 6-3, 6-3. No. 53 Lia Jackson had no problem with Melissa Iqbal at No. 2, winning 6-1, 6-2.
The 'Cats are back in action Saturday when they host Indiana at the Johnson Tennis Center. Match time is slated for 11 a.m.
