EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern wrestling will open the home season in unfamiliar territory this weekend. Due to a women's basketball game in Welsh-Ryan Arena, the Wildcats will host Princeton, Eastern Michigan and Wisconsin-Parkside at Patten Gymnasium Saturday beginning at noon. Patten Gym is located on the corner of Sheridan Rd. and Lincoln St. on the Evanston campus.

The format of the duals will be round-robin with matches at noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. A schedule is listed below.

This is the first team competition for the Wildcats this year. They have only wrestled in open tournaments up to this point.

"This weekend will be a good test for us," said Wildcat head coach Tim Cysweski. "We will be able to see where we are at as a dual team and how the younger guys perform in dual competitions."

Princeton comes to town fresh off a loss to No. 5 Iowa last weekend. The Tigers won two matches in the dual, falling 36-7. The highlight of the evening was Greg Parker's upset of Iowa's Tyler Nixt by a major decision (13-3). Parker is currently ranked 10th by InterMat at 174-pounds.

Eastern Michigan is winless in dual competition, losing to Northern Illinois, 34-6, and Buffalo, 33-6, in a double dual late last month.

Wisconsin-Parkside is a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference at the Division II level. The Rangers are led by senior Luke Goral at 197-pounds, who is undefeated with a 9-0 record.

As for the 'Cats, they have enjoyed strong individual performances in the open tournaments. John Giacche's (Flemington, N.J./Blair Academy) first-place finish at the Michigan State Open and third-place finish at the Northern Open has landed him seventh in this week's InterMat rankings at 141-pounds. Giacche boast the best record on the squad at 8-1.
