EVANSTON, Ill. - The Wildcats return to the friendly confines of Welsh-Ryan Arena after spending a week on the road. NU headed south to Miami, Fla., for contests against teams from the Big East (Miami), the Sun Belt Conference (Florida International) and the Northeast Conference (Monmouth).
Tonight the Wildcats take on Chicagoland rival DePaul. NU has a 12-5 advantage in the all-time series, but DePaul has a two-game winning streak with victories over the 'Cats at Welsh-Ryan in 1999 and in Chicago last year.
Last year, Emily Butler (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) led four players in double figures with 18 points, while Nicole Daniels (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains) chipped in 10.
DePaul led at halftime 46-33 and continued to dominate in the second half as they went on to win 91-66. It was the highest point total against the 'Cats in a non-conference game.
The Blue Demons were led by Lenae Williams, who scored a game-high 25 points in 28 minutes of work. This season, Williams continues to dominate as she has led DePaul in scoring in all four of their games. She is averaging 24.0 points per game and dropped 41 against sixth-ranked Iowa State.
This season, NU is once again led by Butler who is averaging 12.8 points per game. She is followed by freshman Sarah Kwasinski (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick) who in 91 minutes of work, has averaged 9.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
