Women's Basketball Drops 67-50 Decision to DePaul

EVANSTON, Ill. - Ill.-Northwestern women's basketball team fell to DePaul University by a score of 67-50 Tuesday night in Welsh-Ryan Arena. The Blue Demons (3-2) used a steady diet of Lenae Williams to hand the 'Cats their fifth loss of the season. Williams finished the game with 33 points on 10-of-19 shooting (3-5 from three-point land) and was 10-for-10 from the charity stripe.
NU's leading scorer-for the second straight game-was freshman Sarah Kwasinski (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick) who scored 10 second-half points to finish with 11. The Chicago native also had six rebounds as no other Wildcats finished with double digit points. Sophomore Michelle Zylstra (Huntington Beach, Calif./Edison) and freshman Suzanne Morrison (Franklin, Mich./Detroit Country Day) each ended the game with eight points and six rebounds.
The Northwestern offense did shoot 42 percent in the second half compared to a dismal 32 percent in the first stanza. The defense also held DePaul to just eight field goals in the second half as the Blue Demons shot just 35 percent for the game.
