Northwestern Names Athletes of the Week

Evanston, Ill. - Northwestern University announced their athletes of the week for the week of January 14, 2000. The award was based on performance from the previous week.

MALE -- ELLOIT MASSUDA, DIVING
Elliot Massuda (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) won the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events at Michigan State to help lead the `Cats to a 108-81 victory. His 1-meter score of 292.05 was a season best, bettering his 176.98 performance in the first meet of the season. Massuda also improved his 3-meter season best score from 258.97 to 289.20.

FEMALE -- KATIE SIMMONS, SWIMMING
Swimming against Auburn and Tennessee, Katie Simmons (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) remained undefeated in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:17.45 and also finished second in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.04). Simmons was also part of the second-place 400 freestyle relay team and the third-place 400 medley relay team.
