Women's Volleyball Falls to Georgia, 3-1

The Northwestern Wildcats (0-3) fell to Georgia (1-2) in four games (14-16, 15-13, 11-15, 9-15) at the US Bank Tournament in Lincoln, Neb., Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Cassie McKnight (San Marcos, Calif./San Marcos) led three Wildcats in double-figure kills, recording 13 en route to a career best.
Carmen Burbach (Columbus, Neb./Scotus Central Catholic) and Erika Lange (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) each had 10. On the defensive side, Kelli Meyer (Madison, Wis./Edgewood) and Lindsay Pavlik (Laguna Beach, Calif./Mater Dei) each recorded career-high 14 digs. Lange was a presence at the net with one solo block and eight block assists to lead the team. The Wildcats outblocked the Bulldogs, 16.5.-10.
The 'Cats took Georgia to the wire in the first game before falling, 16-14. In game two, the 'Cats came from behind to take the lead at 14-13 on a block by Lange. The 'Cats put it away with a service ace by freshman Erica Knavel (Elm Grove, Wis./Brookfield East).
Game three was another battle, but NU could not pull out the win. In game four, the 'Cats were down 14-6 before gaining three consecutive points to make the score 14-9. A kill by Georgia's Jennifer Foytich gave the Bulldogs a side-out, and Foytich put away another kill to end the game at 15-9.
