Northwestern Set To Celebrate Women In Sport Weekend

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern University will celebrate the third annual Women in Sport Weekend in Evanston this weekend, September 22-24.

The weekend will feature action by all of Northwestern's women's fall teams. The field hockey team will host games at Lakeside Field Friday at 3 p.m. (vs. Michigan State) and Sunday at 1 p.m. (vs. Providence). The women's soccer team is also in action at Lakeside Field, hosting Big Ten matches on Friday at 4 p.m. (vs. Minnesota) and Sunday at 1 p.m. (vs. Wisconsin). And the women's volleyball team gets into Big Ten action, as well, hosting Indiana Friday night and defending national champion Penn State Saturday night at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Both of those matches will begin at 7 p.m. Central.

Fans will be able to get a special weekend pass, which allows entry into all five contests for just $5. Members of the Wildcat Kids' Club get into games free with their official membership card, while NU students get in free to all the events. To order your weekend pass, contact the athletic department ticket office at (847) 491-2287.

Regular admission prices are $5 adult/$3 children for both women's soccer and women's volleyball. There is no admission for field hockey games.

The first 50 fans at each game will receive a t-shirt, compliments of adidas, as well as one of several gifts from KRAFT Foods. All in-game promotions are sponsored by Pepsi-Cola. At the end of each game, the Wildcat players will stick around to sign autographs for their fans.
