Dana Leonard Named to Big Ten Foreign Tour Team

EVANSTON, Ill. - Senior point guard Dana Leonard has been named to the 2000 Big Ten Women's Basketball Foreign Touring Team. Leonard joins 11 other women from the Big Ten for the five-game tour.
The team, under the direction of Michigan head coach Sue Guevara, will travel to Austria, Slovakia and Hungary for a five-game schedule from August 10-17. This year's team is the ninth Big Ten-sponsored women's foreign squad to compete.
Leonard was the 'Cats second-leading scorer last season, averaging 9.9 points per game. She was second in assists (2.88) and led the team in three-pointers made. In the conference, she was third in three-point field goals made (32) and second in three-point field goal percentage (.364).
The 2000 team will be highlighted by Iowa's guard and Second-Team All-Big Ten selection Cara Consuegra. She was tied for third in Conference games in scoring (17.6 ppg) and second in assists (6.75) in 1999-2000. Joining Leonard and Consuegra on the team are Karen Hagberg (Illinois), Jamie Gathing (Indiana), LeeAnn Bies and Infini Robinson (Michigan), Vremina Reese (Michigan State), Brandy Pickens (Minnesota), D'wan Shackleford (Ohio State), Lisa Shepherd (Penn State), Candi Crawford (Purdue) and Tamara Moore (Wisconsin).
