Tennis Teams Earn Spots in Final ITA Rankings

EVANSTON, ILL. - The Northwestern's men's and women's tennis teams finished their seasons at the NCAA Championships, and as a result they each earned a spot in the final ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings, released June 2.

The men, who fell to top-ranked Stanford in the first round in Palo Alto, Calif., ended their season with an 11-12 overall mark and are ranked 54th. The women, who fell to No. 1 Stanford at the "Sweet Sixteen" in Malibu, Calif., after wins over Tulsa (5-0) and Oral Roberts (5-0), concluded their season with a 24-5 overall record and ranked 15th. That is the highest ranking for the Wildcat women since 1994, when they placed 13th.

Individually, Katherine Nasser ended the season ranked 61st in singles, while Northwestern's duo of Nasser and Colleen Cheng finished at No. 34 in the final doubles ranking. On the men's side, Brad Erickson and Joost Hol earned a No. 37 ranking in doubles.
