IOWA CITY, IOWA - Led by Big Ten Player of the Year Brooke Siebel (Brentwood, Tenn./Father Ryan), four Northwestern softball players earned All-Big Ten honors. The awards were announced at the conference's awards banquet Wednesday night in Iowa City.

Siebel becomes just the second Northwestern player ever to be honored as the Big Ten Player of the Year in softball. Lisa Ishikawa was the first Big Ten Player of the Year in history, earning the award in 1985. Siebel, who hit .446 with six home runs and 20 RBIs in 18 Big Ten games this season, also joined Ishikawa as the only Wildcats ever to be named first team All-Big Ten for three consecutive years.

Sophomore outfielder Erin Jancic (Houston, Texas/Alief Elsik), who leads the team with 36 RBIs, earned second team All-Big Ten honors, as did freshman pitcher Lauren Schwendimann (Tustin, Calif./Foothill) and freshman utility player Alyson Schulz (San Diego, Calif./Serra).

Northwestern opens Big Ten Tournament play Thursday afternoon as the fourth seed. The Wildcats will meet fifth-seeded Wisconsin at Pearl Field in Iowa City in a game scheduled for 2:30 p.m. start.
