Wrestling Falls To No. 12 Michigan State, 24-13

EVANSTON, Ill. -- The 25th-ranked Northwestern wrestling team had its three-match winning streak snapped Friday night at Welsh-Ryan Arena, as they fell to No. 12 Michigan State, 24-13.
NU fell to 6-7-1 on the season, while the Spartans improved to 7-2-1.
All of Northwestern's nationally-ranked wrestlers claimed decision victories. Mark Bybee (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence), ranked No. 6 at 174 pounds, opened the meet with a tough 6-4 victory over No. 19 Will Hill. Seventeenth-ranked Tom Ciezki (Evergreen Park, Ill./St. Laurence) followed with a 10-4 win at 184 to give the 'Cats an early 6-0 lead.
The Spartans roared back, winning the next four matches to lead 15-6. Fourth-ranked Scott Schatzman (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway Central) earned a 6-4 victory at 141 to remain unbeaten in dual competition this year (14-0) and senior Drew Pariano (Fairview Park, Ohio/Fairview Park) claimed a major decision win at 157, upsetting seventh-ranked Gray Maynard, 12-4, but it was not enough.
Northwestern will be back in action Sunday, traveling to Iowa for a meeting with the top-ranked Hawkeyes.
