EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern University Athletic Department is holding its third annual "Pack the Place 2000" promotion on Sunday, February 6 when the women's basketball team hosts defending NCAA national champion Purdue at 2 p.m. All tickets are $1.

Come out and support the Wildcats, and help Northwestern set a new women's basketball attendance record. Last season, Northwestern set a Welsh-Ryan Arena women's basketball record against Ohio State as 3,779 fans turned out for "Pack the Place 1999." The Wildcats broke the old single-game attendance record of 3,665, which was set on Jan. 16, 1998 for the NU-Wisconsin game.

The Northwestern band, cheerleaders and Ladycats will join Willie the Wildcat and former Wildcat players as they cram the court in Welsh-Ryan Arena. Don't miss the pregame fun, as the first 800 fans will receive a Wildcat Growl Towel compliments of LaSalle Bank and the first 200 Northwestern students will get a t-shirt provided by adidas. In addition, former Wildcat basketball star Maureen Holohan will be giving away 1,000 copies of Book One of her children's series, "Broadway Ballplayers."

There will be postgame activities to round out the afternoon as the Wildcat players will join Willie the Wildcat for pictures and autographs in the lobby of Welsh-Ryan Arena. Don't miss your chance to be a part of this record-setting event at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 6.

"Pack the Place 2000" is sponsored by the Chicago Tribune, WGN Radio and Hecky's Barbecue in Evanston.
