Men's Swimmers Seventh at Big Tens Through One Day

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern University men's swimming and diving team finished Day One at the Big Ten Championships in seventh place out of 10 teams. NU finished the day with 81 points. Host Michigan leads the competition with 218 points, while defending champion Penn State is second with 165.
Senior Steve Harms (Maumee, Ohio/St. Francis de Sales) was NU's highest individual finisher, taking seventh place in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 4:26.75. The Wildcats also had three swimmers score in the 50 free, led by sophomore Adam Kennedy (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) who finished 11th in 20.65.

200 freestyle relay - (Kennedy, Steketee, Conway, Barnes) 5th (1:21.23).
500 freestyle - Steve Harms 7th (4:26.75).
200 individual medley - No competitors
50 freestyle - Adam Kennedy 11th (20.65), Nick Barnes 14th (20.78), Steve Steketee 15th (20.79)
1-meter diving - Elliot Massuda 11th (399.20).
400 medley relay - (O'Connor, Kim, Conway, Steketee) 7th (3:19.87)
