EVANSTON, Ill. - The 18th-ranked Northwestern women's tennis team defeated Texas Christian, 5-1, Saturday afternoon in Houston in the second of three matches the Wildcats are playing this weekend in the Lone Star State. The win improved the Wildcats to 4-0 for the 2000 spring season.
Northwestern won five of the six singles matches, rendering the doubles matches obsolete and so they were not played.
NU got three-set wins from Katherine Nasser at No. 1 and Lia Jackson at No. 4, while Shannon Duffy (No. 2), Marine Piriou (No. 5) and Jennifer Lutgert (No. 6) were all straight-set winners.
NU will look to complete a weekend sweep on Sunday, taking on Houston.
