2000 Midlands Notables After Session Two

* Joe Williams of the Hawkeye WC has a chance to become just the second wrestler in Midlands history to win seven career Midlands titles. Williams has won six consecutive Midlands championships and has won his last 32 Midlands matches. Only Bruce Baumgartner (1980-87) has won more consecutive titles than Williams. Baumgartner has eight titles.
* Schultz WC's Lionel Halsey has recorded the fastest fall of day one, pinning Jason Lebron of Triton College in 14 seconds. The pin was the second-fastest in Midlands history in the 184 pound weight class and is tied for sixth fastest pin overall in Midlands history.
* Joe Heskett (Iowa State) pinned his way to the semifinals pinning Nate Parnrenter in 5:12 (UNC-Greensboro), Johnny Clark in 3:23 (Ohio State) and Clint Wattenberg in 4:34 (Cornell).
* After winning the 125 pound weight class a year ago, Teague Moore (133, Sunkist Kids WC) is back to win a different division. With three wins today to advance to the semifinals, Moore is in prime position to win his second Midlands title.
