Northwestern Names Athletes of the Week

Evanston - Northwestern University named its Athletes of the Week for December 18. The selections were made based on competition from December 11-December 17.

Junior forward Tavaras Hardy (Joliet, Ill./Providence) recorded his seventh double-double of his career in a 55-53 loss to Pepperdine in Malibu, Calif. Hardy had 10 points, and led both teams with 14 rebounds in 33 minutes. It was Hardy's first double-double of the season. Earlier in the week, Hardy scored seven points in a 83-56 win over St. Peter's.

Freshman Vicky West (Redlands, Calif./Redlands) led the Wildcats this weekend at a double dual meet at Arizona State with Washington. West took home first place in the 1000 (10.02.49) and 500 (4:56.37) freestyle. Both performances were top times for NU this season. West also posted a personal season best in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:53.60 and a fourth-place finish. NU lost 111-153 to ASU, but rebounded to soundly defeat Washington 173-89. West was also named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week for her performance.
