EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern University women's basketball team placed four players in double figures Tuesday night, but it was not enough as the Wildcats fell to DePaul, 91-66, at the DePaul Athletic Center in Chicago.
NU fell to 3-4 on the season and has now lost three in a row. The Blue Demons improved to 4-3.
DePaul got out to a quick start and never looked back Tuesday night. After spotting Northwestern the first two points of the game, the Blue Demons reeled off 13 of the next 15 points. The Wildcats got as close as seven several times the rest of the half and got as close as six with 2:41 to play, but DePaul used a 7-0 run to take a 46-33 lead into the break.
The lead swelled to the 20-point mark with 11 minutes to play, and Northwestern got no closer than 18 points after that.
Emily Butler, who entered the game leading the Wildcats in scoring, had another productive night with 18 points. Tami Sears, who is starting to come around after missing the early part of the season with injuries, had her first double-double of 2000-01 with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Dana Leonard also had 11 points -- hitting all three of her 3-point attempts -- while Nicole Daniels had 10 points.
