EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern women's basketball coach June Olkowski signed four players for the 2001-02 season (Samantha McComb, Sarah Kwasinski, Melissa Culver, and Suzanne Morrison) during the early signing period in November.
Olkowski, in her second year at Northwestern, said the Wildcats' early signees would help continue the development of the Northwestern program.
"We felt it was important to sign players who had a outstanding work ethic and believed that we are going to move to the upper echelon of Big Ten basketball," Olkowski said. "Each of the athletes we signed possess both of these qualities, as well as being very talented players.
"Suzanne and Sarah are both very good in the post, they have touch and are very athletic. We expect them to be able to contribute next season as forces inside," Olkowski continued. "Samantha and Melissa will complement our perimeter play, and I'm excited about that. Both are capable of playing at point guard as well as shooting guard. That combination makes us more flexible on the perimeter next year."
