Men's Golf Goes 0-2 at CGF National Intercollegiate

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern men's golf team lost both matches at the CGF National Intercollegiate Match Play in Estero, Florida. The tournament is being played at The West Bay Club, a par-72, 6,878 yard course.
In the first round, the sixth-seeded Wildcats fell to the No. 3 seed Arizona 3 and 2. Freshman Tom Johnson led the way, defeating Reid Hatley 3 and 1. Both Luke Donald and Scott Harrington halved their first round, earning half a point each.
In the second round, Clemson needed a playoff to defeat Northwestern (2.5-2.5). Johnson finished his day 2-0 as he defeated John Engler 2 and 1. Also winning for NU was senior David Shaffer overtaking Ben Duncan 2 and 1.
Northwestern will compete against fifth-seeded Texas in the final day of competition. Texas upset fourth-seeded Auburn (2.5-2.5) in a playoff in the first round, but stumbled against top-seeded Georgia (3.5-1.5) in the second round.
