Northwestern Names Athletes of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern has named its Athletes of the Week for October 2. The selections were made based on athletic contests played from September 25-October 1.
MALE -- DAMIEN ANDERSON, FOOTBALL
Junior Damien Anderson (Wilmington, Ill./Wilmington) ran for a career-high 219 yards on 25 carries to lead the football team to a 37-17 win over Michigan State in East Lansing. Anderson's effort came against a Spartan defense that was allowing just 104.7 yards rushing per game this season. Anderson also scored on runs of 32 and 41 yards, and moved within 43 yards of third place on the school's all-time rushing list. He now has 2,423 yards in his career including 758 this season.
FEMALE -- RACHEL EVJEN, CROSS COUNTRY
Sophomore Rachel Evjen (Eau Claire, Wis./North) was the top Wildcat finisher at the Lakefront Invitational on Saturday, finishing third overall in 21:36 over the 6-kilometer course. An All-District runner as a freshman last year, Evjen has now been the first NU runner across the finish line in each of the Wildcats' four races this season.
