Northwestern snapped its two-game losing streak with a 50-44 win at Minnesota Thursday night behind an 11-point, 10-rebound effort from freshman Leslie Dolland, who was making her homecoming ? she is from nearby Bloomington, Minn. Dana Leonard came off the bench for 12 points, while Emily Butler added 12 more points and Tami Sears grabbed 10 rebounds. The ?Cats look to extend their win streak to two with a win over Illinois today.
ABOUT ILLINOIS (14-7, 4-3 Big Ten)
Illinois, the 13th-ranked team in this week?s AP poll, was defeated by Michigan on Monday in Champaign, 85-69. Tauja Catchings led the Illini with 23 points and six rebounds, while Allison Curtin and Susan Blauser added 15 and 14 points apiece. On Thursday, the Illini fell at Purdue, 73-55, extending the team?s losing streak to three games. Catchings led the squad with 19 points, while Blauser added 13. Kylie Martin also reached double figures with 10 points.

Northwestern owns a 31-10 series advantage over the Fighting Illini in a series that began during the 1975-76 season. Last season, the teams split, with each winning on the other?s home court.
