Sept. 3, 1999
MISSOULA, Mont. - The 17th-ranked Northwestern women's soccer team controlled the tempo of the game, but was unable to put the ball in the net and dropped a 2-0 decision at Montana.
The Wildcats, led by junior Brooke Bell (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton-Warrenville South) and sophomore Katie Hertz (Orland Park, Ill./ Sandburg) outshot the Grizzlies, 12-8, and took the only two corner kicks of the match but could not tally.
At the other end, Heather Olson put the Grizzlies on the board in the 59th minute, and Jodi Campbell added insurance with just 25 seconds left as Montana won its season opener.
Northwestern remains out west for the weekend, playing No. 20 Brigham Young University Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is 2 p.m. in Missoula.
