Women's Golf Finishes Third at Fossum Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern women?s golf team finished third out of 18 teams at the Mary Fossum Invitational hosted by Michigan State University. Held at the 5,860-yard par 72 Forest Akers West Course in East Lansing, Mich., Northwestern shot rounds of 307, 308 and 309 to finish one shot behind second place Kent (923). The tournament was won by Indiana (901), but the Wildcats finished ahead of six other Big Ten schools.

Freshman Elizabeth Burden led the ?Cats with a 12-over par 228. She shot rounds of 77, 74 and 77 to finish in eighth place overall. Senior Karen England fired a 73 on Sunday to finish in a tie for 12th place (232), while fellow classmate Colleen Kiely also notched a Top 20 finish, tying for 16th at 234.

Northwestern also finished third of 16 teams at last week?s Lady Northern in Madison, Wis. The Wildcats were led in that event by Burden and junior Christie Hermes. They finished tied for 13th at 231.
