Wrestling Team Falls at National Duals

EVANSTON, Ill. - The 13th-ranked Northwestern wrestling team lost two close matches last weekend at the prestigious National Duals in Iowa City, Iowa. The unseeded Wildcats came up short against fourth-seeded Iowa State, 26-19, in the first round and fifth-seeded Penn State in the consolation round, 20-13. The Wildcats are now 2-3 on the season.
Senior All-American Scott Schatzman (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway Central) posted a victory in each meet at 141 pounds, including a 9-4 decision over No. 13 Biff Walizer of Penn State. Freshman heavyweight Josh Saul (Corena Del Mar, Calif./Calvary Chapel) also went 2-0 for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats open the Big Ten season on Fri., Jan. 22, at Indiana at 7 p.m.
