EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern women's golf team travels this weekend to Iowa City for the 27th annual Hawkeye Invitational. The tournament will be played at the Finkbine Golf Course (par 73 -- 6,000 yards).

The 'Cats are part of a nine-team field: Arkansas-Little Rock, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, NU, Notre Dame and Wisconsin. Due to weather conditions, the tournament has been shortened from 54 holes to 36 holes. It is now scheduled for 18 holes on Sat., April 17, with the final round played on Sun., April 18. Complete team and Northwestern individual results will be posted nightly on NU's official internet site (www.nusports.com).

Freshman Emily Gilley (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) leads the Wildcats with a 78.40 season stroke average. She has six top-10 finishes in her eight tournaments this year, including fifth-place tie at last weekend's Indiana Invitational in Bloomington, Ind. Gilley's current stroke average would rank as the second-best in Northwestern womens golf history. Heather Hoffman set the mark of 78.19 during the 1994-95 season.
