Women's Golf Finishes Third at Lady Buckeye Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern women's golf team finished in third place at this weekend's Lady Buckeye Invitational, played at Ohio State's Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio. NU posted rounds of 312-309-310 for a final team score of 931. Ohio State won the tournament at 907 followed by Purdue at 929.
Karen England (Paris, Ontario, Canada/Paris District) took top Wildcat individual honors, tying for seventh place. England recorded one of only two eagles during the tournament, holing in on Saturday at the par-5, 415-yard 12th hole. Amylou Dueck (Mesa, Ariz./Red Mountain) tied for 17th place at 237 while freshman Emily Gilley (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) tied for 19th place at 238. Purdue's Angela Blythe won the event at 220.
As a team, the Wildcats recorded the second-most birdies at the tournament (25) and led all teams in scoring on the par-5 holes, averaging 5.11 strokes per hole. England led all individuals on the par-5 holes, shooting five-under-par for the weekend. Beystehner tied for ninth on the par-5s, finishing even par for the weekend. NU travels next weekend to West Lafayette, Ind., for the Big Ten Conference Championships (April 30-May 2).
