Women's Cross Country Finishes Third

EVANSTON, Ill. -- In their first varsity meet since 1987, the Wildcats women's cross country team finished third at this morning's Second Annual University of Illinois-Chicago Home Opener.

Jennifer Anderson and Cherisse Lancaster, competing in their first collegiate meet, both finished in the top 10. With a time of 11:29, Anderson finished runner-up, four seconds behind meet champion Carrie Grady of DePaul. Lancaster took 10th place with a time of 11:42.

NU's other finishers were: Shannon McGowan (11th, 11:56), Janet Solomon (14th, 12:01), Bianca Jay (15th, 12:02), Sarah Clark (16th, 12:02), Mary Beth Ellis (17th, 12:03), Sarah Davis (19th, 12:10), Whitney Meagher (22nd, 12:23), Maria Badarraco (26th, 12:26), Laura Lemont (27th, 12:27) and Elizabeth Gibbons (31st, 12:35).
