EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern's 5-3 win over Hawaii-Hilo Saturday in the seeding round of the Rainbow Easter Baseball Tournament in Honolulu, Hawaii, was the 300th of NU Baseball coach Paul Stevens' career. Stevens has coached the Wildcats since 1988, and was named Big Ten Coach of the Year in 1991 and 1995.

Stevens' best year was 1995, when Northwestern finished with a 36-19 mark and placed seven players on the All-Big Ten team. A total of 31 players have been selected in the major league draft during his tenure as head coach. His win total ranks only behind George McKinnon, who won 304 games between 1962 and 1981, among NU coaches.

The Wildcats have a 7-9 record this season entering Big Ten play, which begins Friday, April 2, at Ohio State. Northwestern plays its first home game Monday, April 6, against Notre Dame.
