GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Northwestern's No. 1 doubles pair of senior Laura Guignon (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph's Academy) and junior Katherine Nasser (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey) dropped a hard-fought battle (1-6, 6-4, 4-6) to Pepperdine's Angela Lawrence and Ipek Senoglu in today's first round of the NCAA Women's Tennis Doubles Championships.

Guignon and Nasser went 19-9 in dual-match action this season. They earned a No. 14 national ranking after posting 17 wins during the regular season, and finished 9-1 at the No. 1 doubles position in the Big Ten Conference. Both players were selected to the All-Big Ten team and they led the Wildcats to a 19-5 overall record, the most wins for NU since the 1987 season. On May 2, Guignon and Nasser helped Northwestern to its third-ever Big Ten title.
