EVANSTON, Ill. -- Senior Kristina Divjak (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central) of the Northwestern University women's basketball team was selected to the 1998-99 Preseason Women's Basketball Journal All-American fourth team, as announced by the year-round publication late last week. She was one of only two Big Ten players selected among the 20 preseason All-America picks.

Divjak, a 6-0 forward, is coming off a stellar junior campaign in which she averaged 22.1 points and 6.1 rebounds en route to being named a 1998 Kodak Honorable Mention All-America honoree and a consensus first-team All-Big Ten selection. She led the conference and ranked 13th nationally in scoring. In addition, she was named GTE Academic All-District.

Entering her senior campaign, Divjak is the NCAA's sixth-leading returning scorer. She is the Big Ten's top returning shooter in both three-pointers made (2.7/game) and three-point percentage (.398).

Divjak also carries some lengthy streaks into the upcoming season. She has scored in double figures 53 straight games. The school record is 56, set by former All-American Anucha Brown from 1983-85. Divjak owns a streak of six games where she scored at least 20 points, and brings a streak of 10-straight games of hitting at least one three pointer.
