Divjak Leads Big Ten All-Stars in Europe

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern senior forward Kristina Divjak (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central) led the Big Ten All-Star team to a perfect 4-0 record in their annual European tour, completed last weekend. Divjak averaged 11.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and hit six three-pointers in the four contests. Her tour-best of 15 points came in the final game against the Varberg Club Team from Sweden while her top game of seven points came against the Denmark National Team. Her 46 points for the tour was tops on the squad.
Divjak's game-by-game stats were as follows: 10 points, five rebounds vs. Copenhagen All-Stars; 14 points, four rebounds vs. Denmark National Team; seven points, seven rebounds vs. Denmark National Team; and 15 points, four rebounds vs. Varberg Basketball Club. 1998 Big Ten Women's Basketball All-Stars End Tour Undefeated
Park Ridge, IL -- The Big Ten women's basketball foreign tour team completed its trip abroad undefeated, posting four wins over European competitors. The squad, led by Minnesota head coach Cheryl Littlejohn, earned wins over the Copenhagen All Stars (81-59), the Denmark National team (74-68, 70-65) and the Varberg Basketball Club team (93-57).
In the final game of the tour, four Big Ten hoopsters posted double-figure scoring to lift the team to a 37-point win over Varberg. Michigan State's Becky Cummings and Kristina Divjak of Northwestern led all scorers with 15 points apiece. Purdue's Camille Cooper added offensively with 12 points as well as hit the boards for five rebounds. Cindy Kerns of Indiana added 10 points while Illinois' Alicia Sheeler grabbed five rebounds.
Highlighting the tour were Cooper, Divjak and Sheeler. The three players combined for 135 points and 63 rebounds. Divjak led the team with 46 points and 20 rebounds while Cooper also tallied 46 points and 14 boards while Sheeler posted 43 points and 29 rebounds. Another key contributor was Wisconsin's Dee Dee Pate with 38 total points.
The women's team has compiled a 26-15 overall record and has traveled to Australia, Scandinavia, the British Isles and Eastern Europe. The men's tour, coached by Brian Ellerbe of Michigan, is scheduled to begin competition in August.
