Baseball's Hietpas Named GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-District

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern sophomore catcher Joe Hietpas (Appleton, Wis./North) has been named to the GTE Academic All-District V Baseball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He now will be included on the GTE Academic All-America ballot for national consideration.

Hietpas, an economics major, maintains a 3.85 grade point average. He is second on the team with a .356 ba6 ba a .356 batting average, andtting average and leads the team in home runs (10), doubles (13), RBIs (42) and slugging percentage (.603). His seven home runs in Big Ten games are tied for the conference lead, and he leads conference catchers with 11 runners throhroo finish their regulwn out in Big Ten play.

The Wildcats finish their regular season this weekend with four games against Iowa at Rocky Miller Park in Evanston. Game times are 1 p.m. on Saturday, 1 p.m. for Sunday's doubleheader and 3 p.m. on Monday.
