Northwestern defeated Hawaii-Hilo for the second time during the Rainbow Easter Baseball Tournament, earning the right to go up against either Hawaii, Nittaidai or Fresno State in tomorrow's third-place game at 4 p.m. CST. Sophomore J.J. Standring (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita) threw six and one-third innings for the Wildcats, giving up two runs and improving his record to 3-1. He also hit safely in his 11th consecutive game, a Northwestern season high. Sophomore shortstop Jeremy Kurella (Dunedin, Fla./Dunedin) who led the Big Ten in batting entering this week, went 2-for-4 to improve his average to .400.
